Braided Rug Comes to Life
A sample, an experiment, and itch I ended to scratch.
Frankly, that’s how most of my quilts begin. They won’t always become quilts, and definitely not in a timely fashion. I first made some braid blocks a few years back, as class samples. I made a few more as I taught my Scraptastic class periodically. Yet, at the end of each class I would put my samples away and continue on with other makes. But there was one class where we started playing with layouts of the blocks I had when that spark was ignited and I knew the blocks weren’t going back in the bin this time. Nope, I went from 8 blocks to 72 in a few months. While my original idea for layout is not where I ended up, this quilt needed that spark. Now I am kind of obsessed with the technique. I’ve started a different version, brainstormed a few more ideas, and am now hosting a couple of classes to share it all.

Oh, and I’ve started collecting scrap yarn to tie this quilt. I don’t know why, but I just feel like that is what it is asking for.
